You're wrong, Chris. Sad goes to 100. And this part shows Victor's excuses during the first trial to be pathetic and self-serving. Oh, I can't say I saw a monster because nobody will believe me. Oh, now I can, because it suits me. The monster's grief and rage is much like that of any scapegoated child with neglectful and cruel parents who are impossible to please.
