Goodbye, Sweet Pea
Added 2024-06-21 21:15:40 +0000 UTCI posted about this on the Discord, but now that I've managed to put myself back together a little bit:
Sweet Pea, my little criminal, died on Thursday. I'm not a hundred percent sure what happened, but there was some cast iron seasoning going on upstairs, and I think the smell over an extended period might have gotten to her. Normally you're only really supposed to worry about nonstick stuff but they put that shit in so many things like ovens and whatever now that I can't know for certain.
If that didn't do her in itself, she got disoriented enough that something spooked her and she took off more panicked than I'd ever seen her. She left my line of sight, but I'm assuming she struck the clothes washer (where I found her) hard enough that she just couldn't recover from the impact.
I just don't know.
Regardless of the how, I've taken her to be cremated. I'm trying to keep my sense of humor as much as I can, so I sent her off in her favorite bath towel bearing what I feel is an appropriate slogan, along with four of her many "exes".
I don't know what I'm going to do with the other three I had lined up for her once she destroyed her latest one.
She'll be home in about a week. Until then, I kind of just have to get back to life, because I have work I've promised to people that has to get done, much as I'd love to be able to just meld with my bed and eat cookies and watch movies all day.
Sorry if discussing this icks anyone out. And I'm also sorry if things are a little more quiet than usual both here and on the Discord. I was just hitting a stride again, and the Universe managed to work its stupid, stupid magic again.
