Also, regarding the space battle tactics in this show not making much sense from a modern standpoint, thats by design. The author of the Sci-Fi novels this show is based on wrote the series in the 1970s and explicitly based the millitary battles and tactics on old Napoleonic War battles. Its basically 18th century Europe in space which is reflected in the politics and tactics. The books give some excuse for the very 2dimensional plane battles with some unspecified cosmic "phenomenon" that destroys all ships that diverge too much from certain established "space lanes" between regions. So yeah, if you look at the battles from a realistic point of view or even just a modern SciFi angle you will be complaining the entire show to the end. That was never the strong part of Galactic Heroes.

2024-04-15 02:11:30 +0000 UTCDIe Neue These is not really any shorter then the old show. Where the show plot currently stands after 4 seasons is around episode 50 of the original 110 episode OVA. So at most they managed to go 1-2 episodes faster overall. But its pretty much a 1:1 remake, just with prettier space battles and a different artstyle. Also a long way from being finished.
