I actually rank Plus pretty low overall. I don't think it's bad per se, I just didn't enjoy it myself. This episode in particular though, I think it was more of an element of knowing everything I had said in the past three episodes and feeling like I had put my foot in my mouth... and then managing to wedge that thing deeper in. I often describe myself as flippant. My nitpicks or complaints aren't typically serious.

2024-09-16 13:57:44 +0000 UTCThat's a matter of taste, I suppose. I personally hate pause-reacting. The argument can be made that we miss stuff while we are talking over a scene, but I typically think I can read the subtitles and talk at the same time. However, pausing to talk and think breaks the intended flow of scenes and payoff. All too often I watch reactors that pause a scene to guess at what's about to happen, talk about some tangent, etc and in the process ruin a joke setup the show is doing or completely break an emotional scene. We try not to talk during the big moments. If you see me, Theta, start saying something... then pause and finish talking minutes later... that's me trying to let whats happening on screen play out uninterrupted. The problem is knowing whats important and when its happening, lol.

2024-09-16 13:47:03 +0000 UTC45:11 In this story of people flying transforming robot space planes and fighting giant intergalactic aliens I demand that the load balancing control of the city’s power grid be realistic and properly explained! Did Theta really not enjoy this show, or was he just having a bad day? Because compared to the first three episodes the number of nitpicks and complaints seemed to skyrocket here! So many questions can be answered with a hand-wave and “Because plot!”. Without a suspension of disbelief Macross is a difficult show to enjoy.

2024-09-16 08:35:34 +0000 UTC29:25 Unfortunately Theta was too engrossed in getting his point about drone light shows to pay attention to what was going on on-screen. Of course I would be a lot more annoyed if you didn’t talk about things like this, and just gurned at the screen for 30-something minutes and called it a day like some other YouTubers, but I would like it better if you paused the show each time you want to go off on a tangent (it would screw up timer reactions, I guess, but I’m willing to sacrifice those people so I can have a better experience personally 😜)

2024-09-16 08:04:00 +0000 UTC23:51 This is second hand knowledge, so take it as you like, but I was told by someone that in one of the supplementary works it was mentioned that the city they’re fighting in was a temporary city built to house people before they are boarded onto one of the colony fleets. As the fleets have now left the city is empty.
