My points from this episode: -I don't believe I've ever brought up Caridad Yamato, but Theta is correct that the show never mentioned that she was Via Hibiki's sister and therefore Kira's maternal aunt. The closest we got to any connection between her and Kira and Cagalli as babies was a very brief still shot showing her holding the twins in the episode where Rau Le Creuset is philosophizing and reminiscing about the history of George Glenn and how the conflict between Naturals and Coordinators began (before we even knew they were related or had even seen Caridad Yamato). -the Coordinator Special Forces team leader specifically tells the rest of the team to "Leave no trace of her death at the site.", which presumably would mean concealing the deaths of everyone else there too. How they would clean up the blood and the bodies doesn't seem like something they should have been able to accomplish easily with what they apparently had on hand, but their intent was to disappear her without leaving any evidence of her death. -Cagalli is a Natural and not a Coordinator. I know in the previous season there was some doubt as to that when she learned Kira was her brother, but we later learned that Dr. Hibiki only removed Kira from Via's womb and put him in the artificial womb to make him the Ultimate Coordinator, while Cagalli was left to be born naturally. Cagalli has never demonstrated any coordinator capabilities and there has never been any indication that her genes were ever operated on. Also, given her mother's conflict with her father, I doubt she would let him do anything to Cagalli after literally stealing Kira from her body. -Kira's status as the "Ultimate Coordinator" refers to how he was successfully born from the artificial womb and all the genetic enhancements his father intended to given him were successfully mapped on. Although it doesn't make scientific sense, in SEED the mother's body can somehow affect the genetic modifications made to a child that turns them into a Coordinator in a way that results in desired traits/genes not properly manifesting in the child (i.e. the line from the flashback about the mother complaining her child's eyes were the wrong color). -it is never made clear where SEED comes from but Erica Simmons' explanation seems to imply it might be the next phase of humanity's evolution as a species, so it is probably genetic to a certain extent but this is never confirmed. -the name of "Bogey One" is not Phantom Pain but Girty Lue. Phantom Pain is the name of the unit that Neo is in charge of. -the name of Cagalli's mobile suit is Strike Rouge. -Yuna's cowardice comes from the fact that he did not try to bring Cagalli with him when running away but abandoned her so he could get to safety. -kidnapping Cagalli doesn't actually have as much of an impact on Orb's politics as you imagine it will because the Seirans already effectively had control of Orb's government and if Cagalli had gone through with the marriage her position would not have been any stronger and Yuna may have even tried to convince/manipulate her into turning over her position as Chief Representative to him, which would make the situation much worse. -fun fact: Shin and Lunamaria's voice actors are married in real life.

2024-12-05 02:56:16 +0000 UTCAbout the speculation that there are a bunch of recaps because of a different director, it’s actually the same Director and Head Writer as the first SEED. The reason we’re getting a lot more recap is because they had much less lead time into starting Destiny. While there was a year gap between the final episode of SEED and the first episode of Destiny, SEED was only developed as one 50 episode series. Destiny didn’t enter full production until after SEED, and they likely had less pre production and planning time when compared to SEED. Also Fun Fact the magazine Shinn had HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR written on it and they perform the current opening theme.
