Really cool that you decided to upload the final episode this week. I’ll defnintely be interested to see how you feel about the movie trilogy. Personally, despite cutting out some characters and episodes I really like, I think the movie version is superior to the tv series as a whole. Also, the thing about Gundam is that it’s often described as the first Real Robot show, and it’s definitely more grounded than a lot of Super Robot shows at the time, but it does have those supernatural elements to the series. I really like the Newtype thing they do at the end of this show, but I can totally understand how people would dislike it, especially when the show is described as being more realistic only to introduce this supernatural element. I’ve seen a lot of people not consider Gundam to be a Real Robot show because of these aspects, which I can kind of understand, but Gundam is still way more grounded than your average Super Robot show. Tomino also wrote a novel trilogy version of the original Gundam, and I think it’s a fascinating read. It’s very different from the show, and more in line with his original concept for the series. I think they’re worth looking into, even if you don’t actually read the novels and just look up the differences between them because it really shows an interesting look into what Tomino would do with more direct control over the story.
