[SILVER] Gundam SEED Destiny (Episode 30) "A Fleeting Dream"

Comments for this episode: -At the end of episode 28, right after Todoka is killed and the Orb carrier sinks, there is a shot of the Orb soldiers who left the the carrier all in lifeboats and saluting Todoka. -One of my comments last episode about how Athrun's skill as a mobile suit pilot has degraded was in part meant to be a primer for what Shinn says to Lunamaria about Athrun this episode about Athrun not being really that strong. Shinn is certainly being a bit cocky here, but I believe he is also meant to be essentially telling us that Athrun has not been doing anything really special as a pilot in Destiny ever since he joined the Minerva. Remember, Shinn is the once who has been tearing through mook mobile suits, eviscerating ships and ultimately defeated the Gaia and the Abyss. The closest we've gotten to Athrun showing significant skills is by his disabling of that legged mobile suit/armor hybrid with the shield during the Lohengrin cannon run episode, otherwise he is occasionally shown disabling the weapons of mook mobile suits or being completely unable to cause any damage to the Chaos when fighting one on one when he was previously able to damage it in a Zaku at Junius 7 during the Break the World incident. -While I agree with Shinn trying to get Neo to promise not involve Stella in any more battles is a nice thing, it's incredibly stupid and shortsighted of him to believe that Neo is even in a position to keep such a promise even if he wanted to. There is no way Phantom Pain would bother expending the resources necessary to keep Stella alive if they didn't intend to use her to fight. While I find it frustrating, I do find it completely in character for Shinn. Shinn never really takes the time to think things through and acts primarily on impulse and whatever his current emotional state is, so him doing whatever it takes to save Stella without thinking it through makes complete sense. -the part of Junius 7 that fell to earth is either the bottom or top part of the original PLANT and in Seed Season 1 Tolle literally calls it "a continent" when referring to its scale and size, so it is much larger and denser what colonies normally are in Gundam -I think one of the other significant problems with Destiny is how compressed the timeline of events is compared to Seed. In Seed there was a great deal of implied time passing that we as the audience did not see but understood that days or weeks could have passed between episodes due to travel distances. At the very least ever since Athrun joined up with the Minerva there has not been that same or as much of the implied time skipping and it seems as if the writers are trying to rush a large number of developments into a very narrow time frame which makes events seem more artificial than natural. -Gundam Seed Destiny was received very positively in Japan and is still very popular there, but has a much worse reputation in the West. I have seen a variety of reasons why people dislike, many of which I share, but I cant' really get into that without potentially spoiling things. -The Gundam Seed Freedom movie started development in 2006, but fell into development hell because the main writer became very sick and production didn't start until a few years after her death sometime in 2016. -Also there are technically two versions of Gundam Seed Freedom in existence: (1) the original showing and (2) a special edition with a few additional scenes and some changes to what was originally shown. There is also a prequel called Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom Zero which is currently being developed and I think is supposed to come out in 2025.
