Comments for this episode: -I believe you figured this about by the end, but only one Destroy gundam was deployed and it essentially was constantly advancing and destroying cities and Zaft forces until Kira engaged it in the Freedom. -The opening Shinn created in the Destroy was not the same size as a mobile suit's fist and trying to cut her out of the Destroy would probably freak Stella out and result in however tried it being shot by its finger lasers, so I don't think that was a very realistic option for Kira. -I think this was missed, but if Kira did not stop the Destroy from firing, Stella would have killed Shinn. The Impulse was flying directly in front of the three positron cannons on its chest and Kira destroyed those to stop Stella and save Shinn -I don't blame Shinn for wanting to save Stella, but there was no was no saving her after Stella was triggered by the explosion in her cockpit and then seeing the Freedom. Stella had no desire to hurt Shinn but in her panic she would have killed Shinn and likely killed more people if Kira didn't intervene. Even if Shinn had managed to safely remove her from the Destroy, Stella is dead anyways without receiving the regular drug and pod treatments and its not like Zaft would be willing to just let her go free even to keep Shinn happy. -another piece of evidence that I think supports the argument I've been making regarding Athrun being weaker than before. Athrun has been shown to be unable to damage the Chaos in any way since he got into the Savior, but in this episode Sting was beaten by 3 random pilots in Murasames. Sting is not that special of a pilot and Athrun could not do anything to him anytime he fought him one on one ever since rejoining Zaft. -with respect to the impossibility of Mu potentially surviving what happened to him in Seed, in the original SD version of Gundam Seed there was a clip of Mu's helmet floating in space with the glass visor completely shattered after the Strike was destroyed saving the Archangel, but this shot was removed from the HD remaster and was not in the movies either. -Shinn wanting revenge on the Freedom for killing Stella makes sense, but it is unclear if it was the Freedom or the Calamity's beam which killed Shinn's family as both suits were shown firing simultaneously when the explosion occurred. -I think it would be perfectly in character for Shinn to seek revenge for Stella's death, but I do not believe it is justified in any way and that Shinn is wrong for seeking it. Shinn's distorted worldview was pretty clear in this episode as he was condemning what the Destroy was doing this episode and was fine killing the pilot until he realized it was Stella, but at least so far there has been no recognition of the fact that Stella has killed hundreds of thousands if not millions of people ever since she got into the Destroy and that she needed to be stopped even if the only way to accomplish that was killing her.

2025-02-04 05:06:35 +0000 UTCI don't disagree from the Stella/Shinn aspect. As per what I said in the post-episode discussion, that's been the strongest aspect of the last few episodes. It's just been a let down on the promise of the mystery that we've been hoping for reveals for... and instead getting clip shows with barely any payoff.

2025-01-29 23:34:36 +0000 UTCObviously, since I’ve seen the reaction I know you disagree, but I think these past 3 episodes, are actually the first half of the strongest series of episodes in the entirety of Destiny. I like that the series is showing Stella’s tragic circumstances and having Shinn put in a really difficult situation where he doesn’t have any good options. He could either do nothing and Stella dies, or he can bring her back to the Earth Forces, and she might live. However, the option he does take, ends up being the worst possible decision in the long run because while you can understand why he makes the decision to try and save Stella not only does it not work, but it leads to Berlin being completely destroyed. I personally don’t blame Kira here, even though it is his fault that Stella dies. First off it’s the first time I’m actually on his side in the show with him intervening. He’s not wading into a random conflict, he’s trying to stop the Earth Forces from committing genocide. He’s saving lots of lives and also saves Shinn’s life by killing Stella. She was about to fire and Shinn was directly in front of her, so he would’ve died if not for Kira. Of course, without Kira floating into Stella’s eyesight, he wouldn’t have needed to save Shinn cause she was about to stand down, but he did just save his life. Then it goes in a really interesting direction with Shinn and his revenge plot. One clarification, you were wondering if their communications were linked after Neo told Shinn that Stella was in the Mobile Armor, but their communication systems are not tied in together. I don’t think this is ever directly explained in any of the shows, but when two mobile suits are in direct contact with each other, the pilots can communicate with each other, and this I think is constant across every single show/movie in the franchise. Also, the song you hear at the end, and in a bunch of other episodes, is sung by Stella’s VA.
