Why I Love Fantasia

This was definitely one of the more difficult videos I've made.

I spent a LOT of time researching the general debate between absolute and program music and how it came to be.  Hopefully that aspect of the video made sense!

But I really wanted to talk about this idea mostly because I feel like people tend to look at soundtracks from an absolute perspective, which I totally get, but I feel kinda misses out on some of the struggles that makes a soundtrack's success that much more impressive!

All in all I'm happy with it, even though I never thought I'd ever create an argument for Mickey Mouse in a Wizard Hat being a leitmotif.

I guess that's just the way it goes!

Thank you all for your continued support.

I literally could not do this without you.

I remember reading a text from Schopenhauer on absolute music and the platonic idealism. Really can't agree that there is something like absolute music. Wagner & Beethoven's music still is determined by culture and rituals which have their root in a "program". Therefore their music is not a thing that is able to live on its own, even "if our world wouldn't exist". These composers have been hyped for too long now :D

Is it bad that I'm so grumpy that you pronounced my name really close to what it is? lol
