When Soundtracks Repeat
Added 2018-09-29 02:15:54 +0000 UTCWhen I went to go an see Deadpool 2, I really wasn't expecting to have something like this come up.
Like with a lot of other films rising up nowadays, I was honestly just expecting some Suicide Squad-esque musical jokes (like the Dolly Parton bit), but after hearing "Tomorrow" from Annie during a few select scenes, it forced me to re-evaluate what, why, and how music works in films the way that it does.
It's kind of a startling thought to think that we might just like the music in film because it repeats at the right moment and it sorta forces you (I mean, me, well I guess all of us) to take a more critical look as to why we like the things we like.
Really, if this was going to happen anywhere, you'd think it would come from the next Star-Wars-level soundtrack like Infinity War.
I still can't figure out what Disney's doing with the Marvel Universe.
It looks like they finally committed to a theme that people will be able to recognize for years to come.
But again, what does that mean? How did it finally happen, and why now?
That looks like a question for another day.
