im seeing that there are some people that are upset (nothing new . . . ) and i just wanna add that there's a reason that squid game was so extremaly popular worldwide few years ago and became one of the most successful shows in entire netflix history. it is a good show. the best? probably not. but still good, worth putting time into. it kinda is a classic now, people know this show even if they know nothing about korean culture or other shows. for me its a must-watch. idk if the second season (coming this year i think?) will hold up, i dont have high hopes tbh, because for me season 1 was a good, complete story

Maybe it'll be good if you choose 1 or 2 shows among top 5 or 6 from the votes! And wouldn't it be okay not to have a new vote until you've seen all the shows on the top list? Man it would be nice to see Wes and Steph react to things that don't usually get reacted to, so many good dramas can get overlooked because of the same ones always being in rotation. Oh well, there's a time for everything I guess haha 😅 I'd say 2521 is a great watch, I recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it, it's that good! Would also be cool for them to check out What's Wrong with Secretary Kim or Itaewon Class and see Park Seo Joon in action too 😆

Them saying that about the first ep is crazy cus I honestly think it was quite the grabber. Prob one of the few good eps from the show. I think it went downhill in the latter half tho. Or… it was kinda lackluster I should say. I have a hard time believing squid game is winning bc it’s a quality kdrama, I think people just want W&S to see it just cus idk it was a trend at one point. It’s not bad, and I can’t remember the last time that I watched it, but we’re literally talking about AMAZING and HIGH QUALITY competitors here. I care and honestly double checked before posting to make sure I said the right thing and saw people use it. I should have been more precise in my wording because while people WERE using it to describe the incident. They were NOT using it when saying what he was charged with/found guilty of. And I did say “found guilty” so I should have used the official term. I think we were both talking past each other. While I was right that sexual misconduct is an umbrella term that includes sexual assault, I think you were right that calling it sexual assault isn’t technically correct nor apply to this situation. For those of you who don't know: Twinkling Watermelon 🍉 is a family oriented K-Drama that follows the journey of the one family member who can hear and speak (the other members of the family are deaf). Oddly enough there is time traveling involved (which threw me off on first watch), but it works. It's somewhat comedic, but there were times where it pulled on my heart strings. I haven't watched 80% of the dramas suggested, but they sound interesting so I will be looking into them. Hope you give Twinkling Watermelon a chance (even if Wes and Steph don't end up watching it). 💜

I did not say sexual misconduct equals sexual assault. I’m sorry you’re having trouble reading my response, but I said it’s an umbrella term that INCLUDES sexual assault. Which is true. Sexual misconduct is a broad term that includes sexual assault that’s a fact—but it also includes things like stalking, sexual harassment, sexual exploitation, etc. The actor was found guilty. I’m not sure why you’re forgetting that. Consent is consent. And he did not have consent to touch her. Period. Full stop. Part of why the sexual misconduct charge was given was because he was worldwide famous and there was a power imbalance which is an included facet of the term. I’m sorry, I don’t really want to argue with someone who doesn’t believe victims. And excuses behaviors because someone is famous. The bigger issue was always the main character’s numerous problematic behaviors. Who you didn’t even try to defend/mention instead you decided to minimize someone else and ignore the existence of consent. While constantly trying to frame this as an agenda for Vincenzo instead of me being honestly upset about learning this about actors from a show I love as a queer woman who’s had experiences of sexual and physical assault. You might have taken the time to stop and think that I didn’t mention anything about Vincenzo because I didn’t know anything about any controversies?? FELLOW k-drama lovers, make VINCENZO win the poll!! Seems like it’s gonna be a double watch. Squid game is nice and Vincenzo will give you more connection with the characters and storyline n its a good mafia story. And for another time, I’d suggest “I’m not a Robot” it’s an underrated classic. About a dude who is allergic to human touch, alone, buys a female robot; until all goes haywire when the female robot’s face model gets involved. It’s really funny and romantic. But Netflix does not have it. The episodes are anime length but 3 episode times total episodes, does seem to make a typical full length kdrama. And another few are : Uncanny Counter: SHIN HARI from Business proposal is there aka Kim Sejeong. It has fantasy elements. Alchemy of Souls is also fantasy but with olden time period vibe. It’s a good one as well. Alice in borderland (J-dram): a very good one. It’s more like squid game but games are more complicated at times and it’s Japanese. The game has card game system: hearts, diamonds, king, queen etc to tell them level of difficulty. If you win you get to live for until your visa expires. To not die you gotta win again before your visa expires. It’s a thriller. And can be more brutal than Squid games. It does have its own anime series as well. Season 3 isn’t out for ALICE IN BORDERLAND. I

It’s not for my own agenda?? I like Squid Game it’s a great show. And as far as I’m aware it’s not misinformation. O Yeong-su was charged and found guilty for sexual misconduct which is an umbrella term that includes sexual assault. I actually don’t need to include context? The courts found him guilty. The woman he assaulted did not consent to be touched by him. That’s all the context I need to express being uncomfortable with watching him on screen and saying we should vote for something else. And it’s not like it’s just him who is problematic. If it wins and they want to watch it, that’s fine. But I can say a reason in the comments for people who don’t know and would also be uncomfortable with it. I was one of the people who wrote in Squid Games for the k-drama nominations this time and literally liked everyone’s comments nominating it. And my opinion changed in the past week after learning about them. I can get rid of the Vincenzo/Alchemy of Souls part of my comment and leave only the part about Squid Game if that helps you not view real life issues as an “agenda”.

Edited: For anyone who doesn’t know and wants to be informed, Squid Game’s main actor Lee Jung-jae is incredibly problematic. From being homophobic to drunk driving multiple times to multiple accounts of physical assault including to a young woman. And O Yeong-su was found guilty of sexual misconduct.

Hotel Del Luna is the most unique and varied drama on this list, and its the drama I know they would love the most, it has elements of historical, mystery, fantasy, modern, romance, comedy which is all something they have not watched yet.
