To answer one of your questions, Howard Johnson's was a chain of hotels and restaurant's (Ho-Jo's for short) that used to be all over the place. They had bright orange roofs with a weather vain on top. They also had their own brand of ice cream. Sadly, they were also r4c1st as hell back in the civil rights era.
