2024-02-23 03:05:58 +0000 UTCmy opinion on the topic, being that if you enter into a partnership it is among the interest of both to have had a deep appreciation of the the others personality and personal expression I think it's fine to ask your Significant other if something looks good on you or what they like. Yet that is very different tonally from telling your partner "Hey I don't want you wearing this because of x,y,z..." Like you said its about having respect, and you have to respect their personal choices. Or else why commit to a relationship if your so embarrassed or threatened by the way they express themselves. I saw too much of that growing up to want to be in a relationship where you admonish your partner for their clothing choices. I rather feel confident that my partner dresses the way they do because it makes them feel good and know that no matter what we always go home together.
