Hey, guys, I had a rough week, with a bad cold and a really bad sore throat to boot, so the last few days haven't been the most productive. But, antibiotics are your friend, and I'm feeling better now, so let's talk about bears:

The image above shows some of the options that I had for the bear model. I went with the last one, the Skyrim bear. Even though it's the most technically incorrect model for a PS1 game (the polycount is too high), I thought it was the best option for the animation, becausethe other low poly bears don't look threatening at all (Morrowind bear just looks like an asshole). But the Skyrim bear looks great, he has this evil look in his eyes and everything is properly modeled, especially the teeth, so his face can be very expressive.

The bear fight animation is around 60% complete, and this scene is definitely the hardest one to animate so far. Luna and the bear are constantly interacting, lots of bites and claw attacks happening, and that requires a lot of animation tweaking. I also think this is the best part of the episode, lots of good moments here. There's one sequence in particular that I was editing yesterday, and I decided to use a small voice clip from the TBFP man vs wild video, it's so simple and short but it turned into one of the funniest moments in the entire episode. I love it!
Now I'm working on the ending of the fight, and there's a couple of assets that I have to make before I start animating again. The most important one is a battle damaged version of Luna because the fight goes on for a long time, and I want to show the physical toll on the characters. I think I can do most of it with some texture modifications, that should be pretty easy. But if I make any changes to the geometry I might have to reskin a new version of the character, and that's quite a bit of work, so I'm gonna try to avoid that if possible.

So yeah, still lot's of work to do in the bear fight. But you know what else I learned this week?
