That one shot just tells so much, it goes to show the moment they realized what terrible thing they've done.

2024-10-29 12:51:10 +0000 UTCExcept for the big time reveals of this episode like the whole "stealing the Power of the Titans" and "Coordinate" I have also always loved it because it shows us who Bertolt is and a bit of why he acts like he always does. He is this quiet, nervous sweating fella. Bertolt is not bipolar, unlike Reiner obviously, so he never made 'a second persona' as he points out, they couldn't "come to terms with their sins". Reiner's escape was making a 2nd persona of himself, literally forgetting who he was and what he did, while Bertolt couldn't and was thus constantly aware of what they did and what they trully were. As such, we always see him emotionally withdrawn, silent, not interferring much with others, because he always felt guilty and simmultanously worried for the mission and his comrade, Reiner and Annie. Bertolt's position is super interesting and you understand him better after this episode. Just wanted to point it out because I believe a lot of people don't understand him. He'll get even more interesting in later episodes, and I will try to explain him better when those episodes get to pass. Brilliant reactions btw, keep it up.
