2025-05-19 00:25:03 +0000 UTCThis show really helps us understand humanity and how subjective the term 'humanity' and what is considered 'humane' is. We see how much armin is affected by killing a single person, as well as how easily some of the ops can kill. We may perceive those other people to be less 'humane' than characters like Armin, but again this is subjective. Those people, too, have an end goal in mind. the difference is how much they are willing to sacrifice for that goal, which for them is their humanity. I believe it is important to watch this show with that in mind. These enemies may appear heartless and kill like nothing, but they are all still human; they are simply willing to sacrifice much more. I believe that as characters like Armin grow older, they understand the true scale of sacrifice and putting their humanity aside for the sake of the end goal. Basically, like how Erwin is now.

2024-10-31 14:10:20 +0000 UTCI both agree and disagree with this sentiment. War as a whole boils down to opposing view points and the convictions those believers hold. Chosing to make that a Centerpoint for violence is bad. I disagree with people who hold different convictions than I do but it's not something I'm willing to kill for. War is a vile, horrid thing. People I know and love will never be the same because of it. Armins need to retain his humanity and his despair at having to part with it is refreshing in a way, I've seen so many people just accept that this is who they are now and they're not the people I once knew which is more depressing than I can put into words. Yes armin is naive in some ways I won't argue there but I'd argue that he wouldn't be armin without that nativity. Making it through something as heinous as war and killing and still retaining part of yourself is admirable because not many people can.

2024-10-31 12:37:01 +0000 UTCI think Armin and the 104 excluding Eren and Mikasa had a very naïve childlike view on what it truly means to be a part military unit. Where I think one of the key messages in this episode was there are no good or bad sides It’s just what side benefits you and the fact that Armin believes that woman was nice and that they’re not the good guys anymore just further prove that he still has a lot of maturing to do. It’s not like the opposition is even giving them an opportunity to talk to them and try to resolve the matters peacefully they’re coming for blood and as smart as he is as a character, he’s still a kid. All of them are so this definitely feel like a much needed wake up call for them.
