They argued the lack of evidence of Eren showing romantic feelings to Mikasa the entire show, and they're not wrong. We can't blame them, these are because of what I call a difference in affection conveyment. People who understood Eren are very good at hiding their true feelings, even when they are desperate they aren't very showy, so they fully understand the writing and connected with Eren instantly when he snapped to confessing about it with Armin. On the other hand, are the people who aren't afraid to show and say their feelings, people who know that romantic relationships doesn't make sense if you aren't showing/giving it. They probably never saw Eren as an anxious type, so it's so confusing to them see Eren acting like a shy desperate teenager that snapped. When Rivas argued about it, I realized I was watching the embodiment of the online argument that happened back when "that" episode aired. Let's see if my prediction of his opinion remain true... 🗿

I talked about it from time to time with friends but it’s really not the same as watching with them. So you guys really have a chance to be able to discover these amazing shows together and with the community.

So confessions of romantic love and the phenomenon of dating and all that are probably foreign to them. Eren and Mikasa in particular is an example of tragic love. Mikasa initially bonds with Eren as a form of trauma response, as someone who showed affection and care for her right after a traumatic event like her parents getting killed. And of course, that blossoms into love. Eren is often running ahead with his pursuits of freedom and vengeance, giving little thought to confessions of love and mentally processing such stuff. But the war torn existence they live in always comes in the way. I think in both Eren and Mikasa's cases, romantic love is mostly insinuated more than outwardly said, through their own actions or comments by other characters. It is interesting that Rivas characterizes Mikasa's indirect insinuations as romantic love, but not Eren's.
