2025-01-06 21:24:39 +0000 UTCBlu Rays for live action media (non animated movies and tv shows) tend to just be a higher quality version of the movie or show with perhaps a better surround sound standard and HDR as opposed to the normal DVD, hence why blu rays will also be a larger file size. But with anime, blu ray releases are as Ronnie mentioned to fix animation mistakes or improve things that they couldn't do or were overlooked in the original time frame they had for animating it, hence why the blu rays come out like a year after the original tv release of an anime. In some anime the blu ray changes will be minor because the original was already great, but in other cases like JJK the changes are drastic with entire new scenes being added because there wasn't enough time in the original release for them. The AOT blu ray for season 4 was also a significant change, especially for s4 part 1 where a lot of errors were fixed and improvements made. It's also a collectors thing, I know it might seem old fashioned when you can stream everything, but in addition to the extra quality, many people like myself collect blu rays as they come in really cool box sets sometimes.
