This episode is one of the best directed episodes in the show, in my opinion. Especially in the emotional department ABSOLUTE CINEMA

And the display of relationships and personal growth. Way too many people don’t pick up on that, and think the animation is the only good thing about it. It’s frustrating lol.

The chills, the music, the story, the way it all built up to the scene where he finally fights Gyokko for real, everything was a masterpiece from start to finish. I cried so much when I saw his backstory. Yuichirou's dying words being a prayer to God to protect Muichirou was devastating. It's one thing to know why they join the demon slayers, but another thing altogether to see it unfold the way it did. Because Muichirou's entire character before he regained his memories really revolved around his title: mist. Everything was shrouded in mist that prevented him from remembering the trauma he got from losing his brother to a demon, and the realisation that his brother actually loved him a LOT. I'm so glad you guys picked up on Yuichirou's behaviour as a different kind of coping mechanism for grief, because that's so true. Their personalities are the complete opposite of each other, so it's totally understandable that they have diff reactions to their parents' deaths. Since they're twins, it's even sadder when you realise that Muichirou adopted Yuichirou's harsh words and seemingly uncaring attitude towards others, probably as a way to protect himself from the pain of losing Yuichirou. In a way, he was preserving his brother's memory without even knowing about it. I remember being so hyped after this episode because Muichirou managed to manifest the marks on his face, but then fell back into depression again thinking about his origin ugh
