I am so late but I just had to talk about Kyoujurou's appearance in this episode (I'm biased towards him cause he's my fav character but idc HAHAHA). Kyoujurou reappears throughout the series even after his death many, many times. Most of it is because his death had such a huge impact on Tanjirou and the main trio, but it's also because he was a literal inspiration to everyone around him. From season 2 episode 1, the one where it showed him travelling to find the Mugen Train, the Taisho era secret shared was what all the other hashira thought of Kyoujurou. And, as expected, everyone was very fond of him, even if they weren't close. His character brought such vibrance and exuberance to the screen purely because of his infectious but also eccentric energy, and the message he left with Tanjirou and us as the audience really solidified his place as a permanent figure worth admiring in the series. His phrase "set your heart ablaze" has followed Tanjirou throughout his training and his battles after Mugen Train, and I tear up every time he's mentioned or shown. Here in this episode, Muichirou, who can finally process information normally compared to when he had amnesia, realised fully that Kyoujurou was gone. Before that, at the end of Mugen Train, it was shown that he didn't give much of a reaction to the news of Kyoujurou's death. But now that his memories are back, he was able to internalise the news when he saw Kyoujurou's old sword guard that Kotetsu pulled out. It's really bittersweet, because everyone was fond of Kyoujurou, even Muichirou, but he had to take a detour for his death to register in him. Also, the fact that Kyoujurou's sword guard was what protected Kotetsu made me cry when I first watched this episode. He's still protecting and saving people even from the afterlife. He didn't deserve to die, and I get depressed all the time whenever they bring him up. Ugh.
