I am in love with the way demon slayer portrays Sanemi and Genya's relationship. You can feel the hurt and love (though more hurt) from both of them and in turn learn more about what types of people they are individually, the lengths they go through to see or protect (in a horrible way or not) the other. And sometimes it might just be that hard to reconcile a broken relationship. Beautifully executed imo

2025-05-07 02:33:53 +0000 UTCOther than the glaring issues with the Shinazugawa brothers, the fact that we breezed past three hashiras this episode had me so shocked. I almost wanted more from Mitsuri, but then I realised flexibility really is up to repeated training, so there probably wasn't much else for them to show. Obanai's training was the most effective and had the best results so far, since we were clearly shown how his training helped Tanjirou, and how much he struggled with it. Sanemi is... Yeah... Idek what to say for his training. He's scary but also low key charismatic (he grew on me a lot as a character HAHAHA). Either way, I loved all the interactions btw he hashira and Tanjirou. As we know, the Tanjirou effect doesn't work on everyone, but seeing him navigate Obanai's and Sanemi's dislike and hatred for him(albeit for diff reasons HJBWDHJEB) was a treat. I love how he's never been a pushover, and if someone genuinely doesn't like him, he doesn't go out of his way to get them to like him. Plus, I love how Tanjirou holds grudges HAHAHAH Sanemi had that sass coming cause he never apologised for stabbing Nezuko (he should be headbutted more for this, by Nezuku herself HMPH)

2025-05-06 09:24:52 +0000 UTCThis episode never fails to make me laugh, get depressed, get mad for Genya and also drop my jaw in awe at how crazy Sanemi is. I love his design, his voice, and his psycho mannerisms, but I do have to admit that his protection of Genya is WAYYYY overboard. His words might convey hatred and disgust, but we as the audience can tell that he's trying to keep Genya off the battlefield. Every time he says he'll destroy Genya, he always follows it up with saying "until he quits the corps", which is pretty telling about his intentions. But, he really does go to extremes for that to happen. He doesn't care whether he incapacitates Genya, or blinds him, or hurts him beyond measure, as long as he's still alive and can live off the battlefield as a normal person (which I beg to differ would be a better option but it's Sanemi so he obviously won't listen lmfao)

He's acting cold and harsh towards Genya because he doesn't him to be a Demon Slayer, since he's afraid of losing him. He wanted him to live a free life, and to be away from danger, which is why he's trying to make him feel insecure about his ability, to make him quit.

2025-05-05 14:37:25 +0000 UTCI really liked seeing tanjiros dynamic with obanai and sanemi but looks like the tanjiro effect is not for everyone rip xd really had mixed feelings about sanemi bc no matter his reasons and his feelings which is ofc valid with all hes been through but i just dont agree with how he's going about things.. especially with how much genya has grown on me (i never expected to love him so much when I first saw him on s1 lol) it just hurts to see the eye blinding scene.. and even then when zenitsu talks bad about sanemi, genya still defends him.. its all just an all around sad situation and I hope they can find a way to sort through their trauma to be able to move forward :) and eyyy we got the idiot trio back after so longgg cant wait for their shenanigans π

2025-05-05 14:10:20 +0000 UTCI think with Sanemi it's not that he still hasn't forgiven Genya for what he said back then, he's acting like this to his brother because he just wants to protect him and doesn't want him involved with demons but he is also not expressing his emotions in the right way which is why here Genya misunderstands thinking Sanemi hates him when he actually does care about him but is not expressing that in the way he should.
