2025-05-13 14:20:47 +0000 UTCOn a separate note, I CAN'T believe you guys are starting this series. Haikyuu is one of my personal favourite animes. It's an amazing, soulful, emotional and feel-good series that touches your heart in the most unexpected of ways. The characters, the story, the execution of the matches, the parallels, the animation - it is all MASTERFULLY done and adapted from the source material, which was written by the one and only Furudate (the creator and mangaka of Haikyuu). I will never stop talking about how much this series means to me, because it made me cry, made me scream in happiness, made me jump up from my seat while also making me sweat buckets about the outcome of every match. It has so many things packed into it, small or big, and every time I rewatch it, I'm quite literally amazed by how many details are scattered throughout the story. Symbolism is a HUGE thing in Haikyuu, from the names of characters or schools, to the parallels drawn btw characters or events. I'll do my best to point out anything I see that is worth mentioning or taking note of, and I'm sorry in advance for how much I might appear in the comment section LMFAO. Haikyuu is just too good not to share the GOOD parts with reactors. I'm so genuinely excited for your Haikyuu journey (running to the next episode rn)

2025-05-13 13:16:11 +0000 UTCWhen Kageyama asks Hinata "What have you been doing these past three years?", what he's really saying is "Why have you been wasting your time all these years when you have all the qualities needed to be a good volleyball player?" Of course, his words do have the underlying meaning of "You have so much potential" but he also tacked on the sentiment of "Why are you wasting it???" in a really aggressive manner, which isn't exactly the best thing to say to Hinata when his team just lost despite giving their best. His words angered Hinata because Hinata HAS been doing everything he can to get the chance to play. He built up a team of six just to enter this tournament, despite their lack of skills or even knowledge, and he struggled a lot to do so. Having someone "denounce" the efforts he painstakingly put in for three years of junior high probably really hit him where it hurts.
