On my first watch, I really liked the anime from the start but this episode made me go "oh shit this is not another shounen anime, this is special". It is just so real, becoming discouraged by training, giving it all but thats not being enough on the floor, having regrets after. These are all human emotions and writer gives us a reality check beautifully, "we may be following Karasuno as protaganists and we won but in reality there will only be 1 winner from this tournament, everyone else will lose and thats ok, thats the nature of sport". Its so good!

Yeah our boys are on the journey to the top but the reality of sports is that someone has to lose, someone has to have their dreams cut short. This show took the time to acknowledge the losers to acknowledge the reality.. It's shit like this that makes Haikyuu so GOATED

2025-06-05 14:05:00 +0000 UTCThe first half of this episode made me cry a bit because reminded me of how I loved to play volleyball. Not even to win, I just liked to be on court or the sand playing, receiving, spiking or serving. But the feeling of leave the court because our team lost was always melancholic to me somehow. I have a hard time expressing myself or understanding how I really feel, but the montage of this episode was the first time I actually understood that sadness was what I was feeling. Also brought back nostalgia. I wish to play even more someday, but cannot find the right people or even the nerves to get out of the house. Volleyball is amazing, man, I miss playing and having fun
