I agree with what Hinata wants but I when watching the show I was on Kageyama's side for two reasons: first one being that Hinata didn't have an actual game plan on how he wanted to achieve that goal and just said it and when they practiced he just kept repeating what he was doing without thinking of how he could change or Kageyama could change and reason two would be that they had little time to actually achieve that as well, it takes a damn long time to get a skill and even longer to fully "perfect" it so focusing on refining areas in which they were weaker in was an attainable goal in that amount of time and also valid. I agree that Hinata needs to grow as a spiker and that he wants to be able to hold his own weight without relying on Kageyama but the way he was going about it was wrong so the risk wouldn't have been a good choice to make if it wasn't for the mentoring like other people are mentioning.

Yeah you guys are so right and this just goes to show how crucial a good mentor can be! Like tbh Kageyama and hinata both made some very valid points. Kageyama only developed the freak quick with hinata in the first place because hinata had already tried over and over again to hit his fast tosses with his eyes open and it never worked for him, even now. But it’s also true that hinatas evolution is crucial for the team to rise to new heights, even though Kageyama is also right in pointing out the time constraints and that if they continue as they are now, the teams balance and atmosphere will suffer. Nekomata really cooked with the stability vs evolution line lol, it’s a matter of perspective but with the limited amount time they have, the how is the main issue. Neither of them want to back down even though no one has a workable action plan for evolving in the time they have, yet they’re both so convinced that their way is the only way. They need guidance and wisdom from an experienced coach or someone they respect enough to actually listen to in order to get through this.
