Laven wants to be a guardian angel, but doesn't really have what's considered 'right' for this job. So he sort of makes it his own little goal to train for it by taking care of Luci. There's not really much he can do for the demon prince, but as they find more pieces of that horrible gem (Laven and other angelic beings hate it), his help is actually a lot more needed than he thought.
This boy has gone through the most drastic changes since this story's birth. It's funny to me cause Laven and Luci used to be enemies, but since this isn't a Angels vs. Demons type story anymore, they're more bromantic than before.
