I donβt think the show ever explicitly states it but if Hopper is somewhere around 40 years old in 1984 (current year of show, you can see from the different political signs in peoples yardsβ¦ Reagan versus Mondale presidential election)β¦ he definitely could have fought in Vietnam. β64 - β73 was the height of US involvement and Hopper would definitely be in prime age for military service during that timespan. We already know Lucasβ dad fought in Nam and Hopper is old enough to have a kid the same age as Lucas. If Hopperβs dad fought in any war it would be WWII or Korea.
