July and August 2024 summary

Okay, I'm a bit late again but better late than never, it's time to finally write this post, especially after I skipped July summary post but honestly it was intentional as nothing much special happened in July so I thought it's better to write a two months summary.

Honestly there's still nothing much to summarize but anyway. July and August weren't the best months in terms of productivity, the whole year 2024 in general doesn't really feel productive for me to be honest. I don't really know why, I had some side stuff before like June exhibition and so on but now there's no excuse for me doing 4 artworks a month, I have a simple peaceful life again and still having the same problems with productivity. I feel like I'm struggling to focus and constantly get distracted by something, mainly by socials. More and more people want a bit of me, it feels more and more overwhelming and stressful and I still haven't formed a habit of ignoring everyone. Kinda understand the common problem of popular artists being impossible to reach out for months. I can't call it a burn out, I'm still determined to draw and ideas just never stop coming to me, it's more just the whole artist life in general with all its aspects getting tiresome and telling me I should live it a bit differently and get better at what is called time management.

On a brighter side, I'm still working at least somehow and there wasn't a single month of me not drawing at all, there's always some commission and personal art being done and judging by a constant growth of my patronage here people still enjoy what I'm doing, even more than before. And yeah, I usually share a screenshot of my membership and earnings growth progress charts once in 6 months just to show the results of all your support and say thank you for making my life better and helping me to do more art but I missed this moment in July so I think I'll just show the one year progress results in January. The whole well going patronage growth thing is really reassuring, I just can't stop thinking about the high bar I set in past when I was doing 6-8 artworks a month, I'm always trying to reach that level again but I just can't. The only thought I'm trying to justify my situation with is that I wasn't making 20+ edits to almost every work of mine back then, as my kinks range grows wider and wider there's more and more things I want to do to one single work at the same time and so it ends up with one single art having time and effort equal to three full pieces being put in it. Anyway, I'll try my best to keep being good at what I'm doing for you 🙏

Speaking of what was done in July and August, there's still few remarkable things that deserve to be pointed out.

First of all, a big pixel animation commission with Arnold Pitbull, I think it was a great success. It was the first animation I did by using layers in Sony Vegas which greatly simplified the animating process so now I can make such stuff faster and better.

Next is my first attempt at drawing realistic humans with my Pepe le Pew commission. This work surely untied my hands as I'm not afraid of that sort of stuff anymore and actually feel more determined to draw it again one day. This whole summer feels like a renaissance of my interest for human characters, surely it didn't show itself really big in my art, I wanted to draw more Lucky Luke for myself and also finally try to draw Lupin III but all my furry plans and low productivity made me shelve it all for later so I ended up just drawing two human comms but still it feels like a nice change.

And of course this beach themed Arnold Pitbull sequence, it was surely a very exciting project to work on which many people enjoyed a lot. Glad to finally deal with one more of my old 2022 drawings too which became a bonus part for this sequence.

As for my nearest future plans, well, you know what time it is, Halloween is coming very close and considering Spooktober 2023 was the most unproductive in all these years for me, I'm hoping to catch up this time and planning to start drawing spooky stuff starting right from September, I never did it like that before but it's time to do this. For many people the whole Autumn is a season of Halloween so why not to do it that way with art too. I already started one such creepy work and gonna post it soon!

Also I finally started working on a new big physical work. It's actually a bit spooky vibed too and I was thinking about this idea for years as a Halloween piece so I'm hoping to finish it before November but who knows, it can take a lot of time so maybe I'll be late with it, there's some processes of drying that I can't speed up and can't calculate how much time it will take me to finish everything.
