As usual with the super benefits in this den, early access and exclusive textless version to look at the fine linework as I covered everything in educational text like a burqa. Textless versions is why I don't pull any punches when cramming National Geographic essays into doujins.

Just for technicality sakes I looked up how the lifecycle of molluscs as I wanted to write 'prepubescent clams' and wondered if that term can be used that way in a technically correct fashion. Well, it didn't really apply to molluscs but I still decided to keep it as it sounds outlandish. The actual term comparable to puberty of clams is metamorphosis which we most commonly hear about in school when a larva becomes a butterfly.

The stages of molluscs, such as clams and oysters, follows as:

Trocophore larva  ->  D-stage larva -> veliger larve -> pediveliger larva [metamorphosis takes place] -> Spat (the mature final stage)

A small marine fish of the herring family is called a 'sprat' while an adult clam is a 'spat'. In the Book of the Long Sun, the children of the manteion were called sprats. I thought this was an interesting connection to make as I just finished Wolfe's Book of the Long Sun today.

*EDIT 2021-10-02 - Minor Dialogue changes on text ver.
