The idea was solid enough on paper, but executing it came off a bit anticlimactic as you observed. And it was drug out way too long… part of the issue was also that nobody clearly announced Maggie‘s departure from the show, in show, so it wasn’t clear and it left you hanging even more… The concept of somebody you were so close to before the fall, becomes so dangerous and forces you to kill them and many children, was a solid enough idea. And as a result, others who needed help in other communities weren’t able to get it, and that fostered bad feelings toward Michonne. It just dragged on without a clear answer as to what had happened during time jump , a bit too long.
