But it’s also quite impactful and meaningful, and how it shows “our group” in many ways are the villains of the story, where the whisperers aren’t necessarily the only antagonists. Lydia’s comment about “wearing a mask” and pretending is spot on, especially when you factor in Negan’s are here and how that fits into his overall story. As he said before, no one ever believes they’re the evil one.

2025-05-19 14:36:59 +0000 UTCDefinitely favorite episode of the season for me! That ending gives me goosebumps every time. I love Gabe's relationship with Negan honestly. It makes sense that Gabriel doesn't actively hate Negan because he himself wasn't in the line up. He didn't witness what Negan did fully. But he was there when Negan saved him in the middle of a pack of walkers at the expense of his own safety. He was there to hear about his past and actually listen and understand him (both examples from season 7, during their war with each other). I genuinely think Gabe would have chosen to spare Negan if he hadn't have gotten out. Love Lydia, and the fact that Negan is giving her good advice. Makes so much sense, man knows how to talk to kids, having been a teacher before.
