I like to think that he understood that one day she would see the flowers and remember him. It's sort of implied with his reasoning for making sure his statue was everywhere in episode 7. And sure enough, it was his statue that led her to discovering the flowers.

2024-06-05 19:58:22 +0000 UTCBeautiful episode in all regards, and here's a nice/sad implication that you may or may not have picked up: When Himmel told Frieren that he'd like to someday show her the blue moon weed flowers, he was inviting her to visit his hometown with him, but she unfortunately didn't realise the significance of this at the time and never went.
