Chapter 55: Bewear's Eruption

What... what on earth was wrong with this Pokémon?!

Watching Mightyena get knocked down in an instant, the two Pokémon poachers finally realized something was terribly wrong.

They looked at the Pokémon standing before them, and fear finally broke through their vicious expressions.

No, no, something wasn't right!

They tried to turn and run, but it was already too late.

Bewear grabbed each of the burly men by one arm and lifted them up as if they were chickens.

Seeing the look in this Pokémon's eyes, the two men struggled and begged frantically, "Please, let us go! We know we were wrong!"

If they didn't, they had no doubt this Pokémon would hurl them through the air with brutal force. Based on the power this Pokémon had just displayed, even if they survived, they'd spend the rest of their lives disabled.

"Wait a moment, Bewear," Kawaki finally spoke, having witnessed the entire scene.

Upon hearing his little master's voice, Bewear's movements paused slightly, and it turned to look back at Kawaki.

Seeing this, the two men grasped at what felt like a lifeline and quickly shouted, "Don't hit us! Let us go! We can hand over all the rare Pokémon we've captured to you!"

Rare Pokémon?

Kawaki paused for a moment.

Before he could respond, Jane's voice came from upstairs.

"Don't let them go!"

Jane ran down the stairs clutching Bagon, "Mr. Kawaki, you absolutely cannot do that! If you let them go, countless more Pokémon will be caught by them!"

Kawaki naturally understood the principle of releasing a tiger back into the mountains.

He had no desire to have his Daycare subjected to malicious retaliation by the Pokémon poachers' organization later on.

However, judging by what these two were saying, they clearly still had a batch of captured Pokémon.

After a moment's thought, Kawaki asked, "Where are those Pokémon now?"

Hearing this, the two men suddenly felt there was hope. One of them quickly pulled out a key from his pocket and handed it over.

"They're in the underground sewers of Verdanturf City. At the end of the sewer is a secret Pokémon prison where we're holding all the captured Pokémon before shipping them back to headquarters. This is the key!"

In Jane's shocked gaze, Kawaki reached out and took it.

"Mr. Kawaki, you shouldn't..." Jane tried to dissuade him.

However, in the next second, she heard Kawaki say, "Tie these two up."

Jane was momentarily taken aback.

The two Pokémon poachers also froze.

But they quickly came to their senses, realizing they'd been tricked and that this brat had no intention of letting them go. Their faces immediately turned vicious.

"Damn brat! We'll never forgive you!"

Bewear threw a punch, and the Daycare fell completely silent.

Seeing this, Jane finally understood. Mr. Kawaki's actions earlier were simply to extract the location of those imprisoned Pokémon from these two!

She had misunderstood Mr. Kawaki!

Just then, the sound of police sirens came from outside the Daycare.

Officer Jenny and her Arcanine had arrived!

Officer Jenny Jun stepped inside and immediately saw the two unconscious men and two Pokémon on the ground.

She froze for a moment.

"Officer Jenny, these are those two Pokémon poachers!" Kawaki explained with a smile what had just happened.

After hearing the full account, Officer Jenny's expression eased somewhat, but she still reminded him, "The next time you encounter something like this, you must prioritize your own safety first. Leave the rest to us."

"I understand!" Kawaki obediently agreed.

Officer Jenny nodded and ordered the other officers to take the two men and the two Pokémon away.

She and Arcanine stayed behind. Looking at the key to the Pokémon prison, she said, "Verdanturf City... I'll notify Officer Jenny stationed there about this. Also, can your Daycare accommodate that batch of Pokémon?"

"Of course," Kawaki nodded, then added, "But there might be Pokémon belonging to other trainers among them."

"Don't worry about that," Officer Jenny explained. "We'll set aside the Pokémon with trainers and post notices at various Pokémon Centers throughout the region so trainers who've lost Pokémon can come claim them."

Kawaki nodded and said, "I see."

"By the way, Officer Jenny, what will you do with those two Pokémon poachers..." Jane asked worriedly from the side.

If they were just locked up for a while and then released, more Pokémon would surely be lost to them.

Hearing this, Officer Jenny smiled reassuringly, "Don't worry. We'll sentence them based on the number of Pokémon they've captured. If the number is excessive, they'll face life imprisonment."

As she said this, Officer Jenny's expression became stern.

"If it exceeds a certain threshold, according to League law, the punishment awaiting them will be the death sentence."

"..." The word "death sentence" inevitably sounded harsh. Jane pursed her lips but ultimately nodded firmly and thanked her, "Thank you, Officer Jenny. I understand now!"

Officer Jenny acknowledged her and then said to Kawaki, "I'll be heading back now. We need to interrogate those two Pokémon poachers. If we can find out the address of the Pokémon poachers' headquarters, we can round them all up at once."

If Kawaki knew the address of Team Rocket's headquarters, the address of the Pokémon poachers' headquarters was something he wasn't entirely clear on.

There wasn't much he could help with on this front, so he simply said, "I hope everything goes smoothly."

Officer Jenny gave a slight nod. She exchanged farewells with the two and rode off on that impressively fierce Arcanine, turning to leave the Daycare.

Growlithe watched the Arcanine's departing figure with immense envy. If only one day it too could transform into that form, then it could run with Kawaki riding on its back!

Just thinking of that image made the dog excited!

Kawaki noticed Growlithe's gaze and lowered his head to pet it gently, saying, "Don't rush. One day you'll evolve into that form too, and you might even become even stronger than that Arcanine!"

Growlithe didn't need a level-based evolution; to evolve into Arcanine, it needed to use the evolutionary item Fire Stone.

The Daycare currently didn't have a Fire Stone, so Kawaki decided to see if he could trade for one from Wallace later.

Hearing Kawaki's words, Growlithe excitedly nodded its head, "Woof woof!"

The crisis of the Pokémon poachers' attack had been resolved.

Jane and Bagon prepared to leave and continue their journey.

The girl hugged Bagon and said goodbye to Kawaki, "Thank you so much, Mr. Kawaki!"

Kawaki smiled gently and replied, "You're welcome."

He turned his gaze toward Bagon, whose face was serious and whose eyes were filled with determination.

It had made its decision. It too would work hard to become stronger, so it could protect Jane!
