Not only was the source of their power-up something weāve all wondered before, but the execution of that fight also let Gohan and Piccolo shine. This fight is criminally underrated - itās not visually flashy but it was so satisfying on many levels

2024-12-18 09:30:33 +0000 UTCIm pretty neutral when it comes to U2, don't hate them but don't love them that much either but what I do like is how it's citizens were supportive of the U2 team and how they accepted their fate of erasure when their team lost, a far cry from U9. The father/son Kamehameha is always beautiful to watch. I can never not shed tears when U6 disappears, especially watching Beerus's reaction š

Kudos to the writers because an episode like this is really hard to write. Ken & Beth singing the intro is also making the english version grow on me a bit lol

2024-12-18 00:18:52 +0000 UTCSean Schemmel has been voicing Goku from the 90's for the English dub and even now he still gets you hyped up whenever he delivers those types of lines. Also having Goku and Gohan doing the father son Kamehameha but from two different places on the arena simultaneously and then having those two Kamehameha seemingly meet at the end from two different places was really cool.

I guess they used it for Universe 2 to show their support as well. Regardless a really good episode. They donāt often show it but the brothers of destruction do care for each other. It could be that Champa did the face at the end to calm his brother down.

2024-12-17 20:30:30 +0000 UTCY'see this is why I much prefer the fan-service in this episode rather than what we see later on. It's far more subtle and implicit and it hits all the right impacts. Toriyama had a formula for never really repeating himself when it came to story beats, and if he did, he would at least change it up so as to keep the audience on their toes. I think this episode nails that whereas a certain future episode (yes I'm being vague on purpose) just completely misses the mark with it, opting for a cool set-piece but just completely devoid of the character that made it substantial and emotional in the first place.

Seeing Nail and Kami again, Gohan defending Piccolo the same way he did when he sacrificed himself for him, Goku's "It's Fury" line and the universes vanishing is all done so well. Edit: Just now noticing this, but I like how Vados despite her sarcastic nature, stills bows to Champa after he's gone.

Havenāt watched this particular episode as many times as others in this arc, so maybe thatās why. Ended up being a lot more fun (and sad) than I remembered.

2024-12-17 20:05:54 +0000 UTC6:37 Ok, this is probably the only thing that U2 has done that I actually find funny. Toei knew 100% what they were doing to people, and I rock with it. If the rest of U2 had been contained to just this and episode 102 I probably wouldnāt hate them as much (emphasis on "as much"). Having them stick around outside of that made them go from being intentionally annoying antagonists to just a waste of time imo.
